Yorkshire Imps attended both Morley March Contest and Hebden Bridge March Contest this year. New Musical Director Stig Maersk, changed the bands traditional contest march from “Mephistopheles” to “The Wizard”. “Deep Harmony” was the band’s chosen hymn, working tirelessly on the chord functions and intonation.
The band drew number 12 at Morley the band put on a sterling performance, so much so that both adjudicators Mr Alan Morrison & Mr Alan Holdsworth gave the band 1st place for both performances, thus giving the band out right Champions of Morley March Contest 2014.

There was something of an upset too, as Yorkshire Imperial DUT claimed the £500 first prize ahead of contest march specialists Marsden Silver, with reigning champion Skelmanthorpe completing the Yorkshire podium finishers in third.
A resurgent Imps certainly impressed the judges, Alan Morrison and Alan Holdsworth to boost the coffers by also taking the £60 prizes for ‘best’ hymn tune and ‘best’ march performances to head back home £620 better off.”
