Following Yorkshire Imps recent result at Brass at The Guild in Preston, they are hoping to stay in the Championship Section following the Yorkshire Regional Contest in March 2015.
To stay in the top section, Imps have to give an impressive performance to gain a good result and beat several other bands, including those beaten at BATG, at this coming Regional contest.

We are attending a Contest Preview Concert, held in St Pauls Hall and the University of Huddersfield. It is on the 1st March, free to attend and starts at 19.30. More information can be seen here.
On the 1st March ’15 The Yorkshire Imperial DUT, Hade Edge, Dinnington Colliery, Garforth, and Tingley bands will be playing through the area test pieces in preparation for the Regional Area Contest in Bradford. The concert is being held in the Universities amazing concert venue, St. Paul’s Hall.
The Yorkshire Imps attended a rather unfruitful contest in Perth, at the Scottish Open Championships this year. They performed Andrew Duncan’s ‘Cantata’ and was placed a disappointing 11th place out of 16 bands. The full result can be seen at http://4barsrest.com/archive/results.asp?CID=70&RID=3170.
Despite the unsuccessful contest, the Imps went on to provide a brilliant and thought provoking joint concert with the Military Wives’ Choir York. The concert was a massive success and we were able to make a donation to Help for Heroes.
The Yorkshire Imps are now looking forward to the upcoming Preston Contest in February and the great Yorkshire Area in March.
If you are interested in joining the band then contact us via our contact page.
We wish everybody love and happiness over the festivities, and thank you for all of your support this year.
The Yorkshire Imps are joining forces with the Military Wives Choir to present a fabulous Christmas Concert Weekend. Our first performance will be on the 5th December at Morley Town Hall; our second will be the following day on the 6th December at Castleford Civic Centre. Both concerts start at 7.30pm and due to be a sell out event!
All profits from the concert will be donated to the charity Help for Heroes to support their inspiring work with those who have made sacrifices in the service of their country. Band Chairman Mark Tweedle commented, “No-one who has seen the remarkable work of the specialist rehabilitation centres, such as Headley Court, can be in any doubt that this is a most worthwhile cause”.
The Band is honoured to be sharing a platform with the Military Wives Choir (York). The choir, which is composed entirely of wives of serving military personnel is part of a Military Wives Choir network, which now spans the world. Founded in September 2013, following the success of the first Military Wives’ Choir under their inspirational conductor Gareth Malone, the York Choir helps women share the enjoyment and pride that comes from singing together. Although not a “professional choir” the members aspire to the highest musical standards whilst learning new skills, helping each other through the bad times and celebrating the good times. Choir Secretary Allison West comments “We have become a crucial part of the military network for many women, and we hope to be able to continue for many, many years to come”.
The programme, which is designed to appeal to all musical tastes, will include the choir singing the chart topping hit “Wherever you are” and performances from some of the band’s outstanding soloists in addition to festive items which should prove the perfect start to the Christmas season.
After some successful contests under Stig, this was his first concert with the band. The band performed some challenging pieces, amongst which was the world famous Riverdance by B. Whelan.
Stig brought a flavour of Denmark with him to this concert with Carl Nielson’s, Prelude, Saul and David.
The band are looking forward to our Christmas concerts, joining forces with the Military Wives. The concert is in aid of Help for Heroes.
