Established in 1936 as the Yorkshire Copper Works Company Band. The band soon set to work on becoming one of the finest bands in Yorkshire. In 1958 the band took on the name Yorkshire Imperial Band and has informally become know as Yorkshire Imps. In the band's history, we have won the National Championship Title of Great Britain in 1978 and  The British Open in 1970, 1971 and 1980.  In 2005 we became the first band to win a national title in both the Championship section and 1st section.

Yorkshire Area 1st Section Champions 2024

The band recently claimed 1st place at the Yorkshire area championship. In addition to coming 1st in the competition, the band also received an invitation to represent Yorkshire in the National finals.
Our soprano cornet player, Rob Batty, won the best soprano cornet player prize.

The band was also humbled to win the Ann Thorpe Memorial Shield. Ann sadly passed away last year, and she was a beloved member of the band. In memory of her, the band organised a shield to be awarded to the winning band secretary. The band is truly proud to have won this award.
